It's a bit of an arguement about Original Characer Art versus Fanart. You've seen it? You must've, because everyone is discussing it in their journals.
The Original Character people are accusing the fanartists of having no originality. Well, I've seen lots of original stuff being done by fanartists. OC people are also saying that FA are copouts, only concerned with pageviews and watchers. Well, who isn't? You can deny it all you like, but it will bother you a little, looking at your watchlist and seeing certain things.
On the same vein, once you get up from your computer, those numbers have no effect on you anymore, so why worry? It's true that if you draw fanart, you'll attract more viewers. That's because people know these characters, and people should be allowed to draw characters that they enjoy without being flamed.
Now, to the Fanartists. They're throwing out awfully hurtful comments, like, 'You're just jealous that people don't want to see your sorry OCs"
Owch, seeing as that's all I do. But, we gotta draw what makes us happy, or else what's the point? I'm sorry ya'll don't like them, but I do as they've been like family ever since they were created way back when. I think that either one takes a certain amount of originality and ability, you know?
I do have more of a tendency to enjoy people's OCs because I feel as if I'm getting a better look at what's going on in their head as opposed to fanart. I don't know about the lot of you, but your work should/ does/ can reflect your life.
However, I don't think that it's less talented of a person to draw fanart, not by a long shot. If you think about it, animators spend their entire lives drawing other people's characters. I don't think that you would be calling Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnson, or Friz Freleng untalented or lacking of imagination.
And to those of you Fanart buffs- please remember that characters like Naruto or Ichigo and whoever else you like to draw- they started out as 'somebody's sorry OCs', okay? Everybody has to start somewhere, and I apologise for not being as popular as you and only enjoying drawing my OC's. They're fun, and (because?) I know them intimately. I can't help it that I don't enjoy fanart, and therefore cannot even get all of my friends to watch me. All I can do is draw and enjoy myself while I have the time.
This site, as I understand it, is supposed to be a nice place to just sit and relax.
Devious Comments
Personally, I like both. You've seen me draw, i do OC's as much as I do fan art.
I draw what I enjoy, where is the shame in that?

Although I do like fanart every once in a while.
I mean, how would I ever draw your OC's if I didn't do fanart.
